Restock : Nishi Takayuki, Arita Porcelain

Hello everyone.

A long awaited arrival from Nishi Takayuki san's works are finally here.

His fine peices of Arita yaki have iconic glaze drizzles that resemble droplets of water.

The "雫 Shizuku (water droplet)" series are very astonishing to look at.

This time we have managed to get our hands on his dessert and drinking cups.





We have also asked Nishi san kindly to make some of the pieces made by techniques called "ろくろ型打" in which the

Considered as one of the traditional techniques from Arita.

Nishi Takayuki





Bases in Arita, Saga prefecture.

Creates a new, modern form of Arita yaki from interpreting his own version of glazing combined with Arita's traditional ingredients.


As well as his iconic "Shizuku" series, he takes in Arita's traditional techniques to create a variety of porcelain tablewares.


Active in a wide range of galleries and department stores across Japan, and also in collaborations with other Kilns.


History

March 2008 - Graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Fukuoka University.

April 2009 - Enrolled in the Special Course for Ceramic and Porcelain Studies at Saga Prefectural Arita Ceramic Technical College.

October 2010 - Participated in the 'Hito-Mono Saku Karatsu' Project at Saga University.

March 2011 - Graduated from the Special Course for Ceramic and Porcelain Studies at Saga Prefectural Arita Ceramic Technical College.

April 2011 - Appointed as an assistant at Saga Prefectural Arita Ceramic Technical College. December 2012 - Completed the 'Hito-Mono Saku Karatsu' Project at Saga University.

March 2013 - Resigned from the position of assistant at Saga Prefectural Arita Ceramic Technical College.

October 2013 - Engaged in pottery making at the independent support workshop 'Akaeza.' February 2016 - Established a studio in Minamiyama, Arita Town.


Received Kumamoto Broadcasting Award at the 111th Kyushu-Yamaguchi Ceramics Exhibition, Industrial Ceramics Division. Selected for the 2014 Itami International Craft Exhibition. Selected for the Art and Craft Division at the 112th Kyushu-Yamaguchi Ceramics Exhibition. Selected for the Takaoka 2015 Craft Competition. Selected for the 2015 Meshiwan Grand Prix. Third Place Arita Town Mayor's Award at the 116th Arita International Ceramics Exhibition, Industrial Ceramics Division.
